Can i turn my wind turbine into a washing machine?

Where I live in the US, south Florida, people are beginning to wear masks in public now. These same people either don't understand science and biology or are just trying to be polite. In crowded countries like Japan and South Korea, Vietnam, it has been the practice to wear a common mask in public/on the subway as a way of being polite. It won't save anyone from this bug, though. I am also angry at the mass of sheeple here that have been scared into hiding over a bug that is simply the brother of SARS. No one panicked over the original SARS. If this was for real places like Bangladesh, India, Pakistan would have failed long ago. Where are you going to find clean running water and hand sanitizer for everyone, rich or poor, there?

I rent a room in a house from a pediatric nurse's assistant that cares for completely disabled/some on life support children. Most of them she says will die in that hospital, but there is money to keep them alive indefinitely in the hope they will get better. Most were either born with severe birth defects or drowned or abused at home. She doesn't like talking about it because it's not really fun work.

Cynthia gets some space and respect in public because it's obvious from her attire what she does for a living. But she can't take N95 masks home. I wonder what will come of this. Lee Frank was a control room operator at TMI when it melted down in 1979. He had proper radiological instruments at work but could not take them home to protect his family. He made it his life's work after that to make affordable surplus rad instruments available to any member of the public that wanted one.

GOOD to hear from you clockmanFRA and thank you for the glimpse of how the rest of the world is doing. I hope you tried the Plum Tea, no?

Nothing to report here... well, except perfecting scratch-built egg noodles and dumplings that are getting MUCH better, going on perhaps the 100th batch of barley/rye/rice/pumpernickel flour(s) and have found steaming the raw pasta over a simmering meat broth before stirring it in to cook down a bit before serving makes it memorable for the right reasons.

Any how - You write insightfully on things beyond any of our control - I am selfishly hoping to see many more 'Clockmans Log: Stardate 200804.7' diary entries from you!

Good to hear you are hopefully on the mend clockmanFRA

Keep us posted on what you see there.  It is helpful to know what we might be in for in the rest of the world.

Now to the original question, I believe your turbine would make a much better dryer than washing machine.  Just a basket attached to the rotor and you're in business.

Not much of the virus out in rural MN yet... 1 case in the county my doc/Walmart I get meds at is in, 2 cases in my county, 5 in a county I usually shop in so I have been shopping the smaller Walmart(I need little so it works out). About 1/3 h people in Walmart were wearing a mask... if more get sick I will wear one to go shopping, it CAN stop you from breathing in those airborne droplets sick people spew out. Or at least limit it way down and your body can fight off the smaller dose of virus easier. I always have a stock of N95 dust masks on hand, and if needed can swap to my paint respirator with the super fine particle filters(Better than N95). I use the dust masks all the time when crushing barley for beer, grain dust isn't good for the lungs!

I've now seen both the 3M N95's and the KN95 versions.
I'll get a pic of them side by side if people stop taking the KN95's from my desk!

They are not the same.
I'd be guessing,  but I'm hoping they work the same.
The 3Ms are at least 2x thicker.
I agree with Mary B , anything that stops the large "droplets " is a good thing.
Tho, if someone becomes infected , big droplets or little doesn't matter.
I also use the painter/sander's  masks they're built to ward off nasties from your lungs

Y'all stay safe
