need help with head calculations

(1/1)

WillyD.P:
If I have a drop of forty feet, but it is at a 20 degree slope, DOes it still count as a forty foot drop? Or do I need to do something to calculate the soft slope?

mab:
It still counts as 40foot, BUT a gentle slope will require a longer pipe which will incur some frictional losses. One way to see what the effects are likely to be is to use the powerspout advanced calculator:-

https://www.powerspout.com/pages/advanced-calculators

you can input your head and flow and it will work out what pipe size you need. but you can then change the length of pipe and size of pipe and see what the effects are.

WillyD.P:
Those dang frictional losses, are one of the reasons I hate physics. It's always getting in the way of my hopes and dreams.
