Watching the Pipistrel video at time 13:20, it's a windy day on the ground, and the parked aircraft's prop is "windmilling".   :)

I think that in the next 5 years we are going to see a lot of progress in commuter size all-electric planes.

I would prefer a design with a small fuel generator that could charge the battery in case you have to circle the airport for a long time.

I think it was the P-38 prototype that they decided to set cross country speed record with, but couldn't tell anyone if they did. Except they never notified the airport in advance for landing permission. It never got permission. Ended up running out of fuel and crash landing in a field destroying the only one made.

There is an electric plane with engine assist on takeoff and after that it just runs electric.
