When they investigated commercial circuit board cleaners, they ended up buying just a dishwasher.  But, when dirty water meets electricity the traces get eaten away.  You can see that on the lower FET the trace being eaten away.  That makes it so nobody will touch it. Those controllers are unbelievably cheap. As the patron saint of lost electronics, I'd be trying to fix it.

Casino I worked for we used a dishwasher to clean circuit boards from the slot machines. They had everything imaginable on them... Ran them thru the dishwasher, a triple rinse in distilled water to remove any trace of hard well water, dried 3 days in an oven we designed ourselves. Saved us thousands of dollars on replacement boards.

Hi

If you have access to an ultrasonic cleaner, fill it with IPA (outside) of not IPA and a toothbrush. That was what I used to clean the PCBs after the boats I worked on had seen sea water through the engine room vents.

You can buy fancy PCB water based cleaners but IPA has always done it for me and no blowing off with compressed air and a boring 20 minuted with a haet gun.

We're really spoiled here (US).  I ordered this thing Wednesday night.  It arrived here this morning; on my steps.  The origin address is Wroclaw, Poland.  It's in and running again.
