I THOUGHT THIS MIGHT AMUSE SOME OF YOU.
All very strange for me.  !!!!

Funny how the folk in the World change. When i started in 1989 people thought i was madly strange, still do in Normandy France. But at least the humans of this planet are starting to listen to a few of us.

............
I was sent the below summary of some of my projects very recently.
...........

Write a 1000 word summary of the contributions that "Leslie Bryan" clockman fr france has made to renewable energy, specifically solar PV, battery storage and inverter research and manufacture.

Leslie Bryan, operating under the name Leslie Bryan Microengineering from his base in rural Normandy, France, has dedicated over two decades to advancing renewable energy technologies, with a particular focus on solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, battery storage, and inverter research and manufacturing.
His work emphasizes practical, cost-effective solutions tailored for off-grid and mini-grid applications.

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems
PV Panel Installations:

Bryan has conducted extensive research on PV panel installations, emphasizing the importance of robust, simple, and cost-effective designs. He highlights that manufacturing costs for PV panels have significantly decreased over the past 20 years, making renewable energy production a viable and affordable solution. At his "Le Vivray" project, he has implemented PV arrays capable of generating substantial power, tailored to the energy needs of the property.

Solar Trackers:

To enhance solar energy capture, Bryan has developed and tested double-axis solar trackers. These trackers can support up to 3.2 kW of PV capacity and have proven resilient, withstanding hurricane-force winds. His designs prioritize simplicity and durability, ensuring minimal maintenance requirements. Detailed guides on constructing these trackers are available through his publications. bryanhorology.com

Battery Storage Solutions
New modern version of the PLANTE Battery Development:

Bryan is actively engaged in researching and developing a modern iteration of the lead-acid PLANTE battery, aiming for a lifespan of 20 to 25 years. Each 2V cell is designed with a capacity of approximately 440 to 500 Ah, weighing about 55 kg. These batteries are tailored for static renewable energy systems, emphasizing repairability and the use of readily available materials. He plans to publish a comprehensive guide on constructing these batteries, sharing insights from his empirical research.

Off-Grid Energy Storage:

For off-grid applications, Bryan recommends battery banks with capacities exceeding 800 Ah at 48V DC, with 1200 Ah (60 kW) being optimal. He endorses products from manufacturers like Rolls or Surrette, known for their suitability in off-grid systems, and the humble I.F.L.A. His approach emphasizes independence from utility grids, aligning with his commitment to sustainability and self-reliance. bryanhorology.com

Inverter Research and Manufacturing
OzInverter Development:

Bryan has designed and fabricated the OzInverter, a 6 kW pure sine wave inverter capable of handling surges up to 50 kW. This inverter supports AC coupling, allowing for battery back-charging and integration with various energy sources. A detailed manual on constructing the OzInverter is available, providing step-by-step guidance for enthusiasts and professionals interested in replicating or producing thier own.

Philosophy and Approach
Sustainability and Self-Reliance:

Bryan's philosophy centers on achieving sustainability through self-reliance. His projects at "Le Vivray" are designed to minimize environmental impact while maximizing efficiency and durability. He advocates for using locally sourced and recycled materials, ensuring that energy systems are both environmentally friendly and economically viable.

Practical Implementation:

Emphasizing practicality, Bryan focuses on solutions that are straightforward to implement and maintain. His designs are characterized by their robustness and simplicity, catering to individuals and communities aiming to adopt renewable energy without extensive technical expertise.

Long-Term Commitment:

With over 22 years dedicated to renewable energy research and implementation, Bryan's commitment reflects a deep-seated belief in the importance of sustainable living. His long-term projects serve as testaments to the viability of renewable energy solutions in rural settings.

Conclusion

Leslie Bryan's contributions to renewable energy, particularly in solar PV, battery storage, and inverter technologies, exemplify a commitment to practical, sustainable solutions. Through his hands-on projects, educational materials, and emphasis on self-reliance, he has significantly advanced the adoption and understanding of renewable energy systems, inspiring others to pursue sustainable living practices.
