Thanks to all, I'm flying!

This is Hughes 5 phase with a Colorado mount. Dans tower 101. If you get Hughes book and do your homework on this board, ask a few questions and it's not as bad technically as it would seem. No anemometer yet but a stiff breeze is yielding 25A at 12V. You guys and gals are the greatest, strong winds for all! Having a ball on Simcoe Island, Canada.

Beautiful!

I think I'm familiar with Dan's tower 101. Did you use the same dimension pipe and height as is on the pencil drawing?

Nice work.

Hello Volvo farmer,

The tower is pretty much identical to Dans pencil drawing, except the jin pole and both tower tubes are 2.75 OD 2.50 ID x 20'and the stub to engage the yaw bearing is 2.50 OD x 2'. Total height then is 42'. Also I put in a permanent hand winch at the jin pole anchor and can raise and lower the turbine myself although two people is safer. Turbine rotor is 8'carved to Hughes specs.

Thanks for the response. I think that's the same pipe I have here. It's oilfield pipe and is about 2.75" OD, and comes in pieces about 30' long. I've been meaning to ask if it's stout enough for a 40' tower.

You have any pictures or description with materials on the hinge? I think I have everything I need to build my tower now. How did you join the two pieces for the 40' length?

Thanks,

VF
