rotor to wind speed - estimate
« on: June 23, 2004, 07:50:14 AM »
Just to give me a rough figure so I know I am on the right path. If I have a 10 Km/h wind speed and my blade is 10ft and TSR is 5.5 what speed RPM should the rotor be going at???

Hi Fred -

shame on you mixing standard measurments with metric ;~)

Just kidding.

But just for that you'll have to figure it out yourself!

If windspeed is 10km/h, and TSR is 5.5, then  you know that in a 10km/h wind the tip of the blade is going around in a circle at 55Km/h.

And the diameter of the circle is 10', so you need to figure out the circumferance, (3.14 * the diameter)= 31.4'.

So if the tip is traveling 31.4'/revolution and it's going 55Km/h....

If I ever figure out what's in the box then maybe I can think outside of it.
