data base of tower designs
« on: April 27, 2012, 01:53:12 PM »
seems to me that this site could provide a place to start  a data base of wind turbine tower designs that people have constructed and used.each tower would have its own data sheet of construction basics and the turbine diameter.there would be a section to note failures as well as success's ,general observations.some sort of method to authenticate the information as reliable established.it could have category's such as guyed, unguyed, each with brackets of turbine sizes.some designs could have specific design numbers, kinda like air foils have .persons in less restrictive areas could lead the way with tower designs and when enough data on a specific design was proved, persons in more restrictive areas could copy the designs.it could be thought as open source tower design or builders standard.

Would have to include the wind zone the tower is in or the data is useless. I am in a 95mph zone which means I can see that wind speed once a year.

This would be a great idea.
The last thing i need to work on for my 10 footer is the tower. was going to use tv antenna tower, and some people say yes, some no. It would be great to have some real world experience to read, and learn from.
It would also provide a greater margin for safety for the first time builders.

What we need is a calculator that would do everything an engineer would do, you punch in your turbine size, furling speed, tower top weight, how tall you want your tower and it does all the calculations an engineer would do.
I aint skeerd of nuthin.......Holy Crap! What was that!!!!!
