Thanks for linking in the pictures, Bob.

The Dingle brothers (on the home webpage) have added other interesting things, like the Planning council appeal ruling.

It's a worthwhile read, for anyone who's stuck in the mire of regulations, if subjects like shadow flicker, noise propagation, and bat/bird mortality have been rasied against them.  May also seed helpful ideas where it comes to identifying the government's OWN POLICIES that should be encouraging the wind turbine, either supporting renewables, sustainable development, grid reliability, or whatnot.  Every government likes making up idealistic policies in hopes that somebody will carry them out.  So I think the document will be helpful even to those not in Ireland.

My favourite phrases from the appeal:
"Areas of Great Landscape Value"
"the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)"

I've been to the UK and Ireland (the Republic side), and I agree that the countryside is beautiful, but I didn't know it needed its own acronym!

Have to add:  I'm totally impressed by the tilt-up tower shown here:   http://www.dingle-bros.co.uk/page50.html

The 4-ton proof load test in situ is really above and beyond the call of duty.

around here we have lots of acronyms. aonb, Sight of Special Scientific Interest. SSSI. plus a few more. cornwall is one of those places people who don't live here come to in the summer, and think it is there own special nirvarna. its a bit different if you actually live here. no work outside the tourist season. wet and windy in the winter. and full of NIMBIES Not In My Back Yard, types. i often wonder what would have happened if we had the draconian planning laws we have now when the place was being dug up for the tin? glad you like the link. i thought it was worth putting up after i read that they had won there planning appeal. didn't know anything about it till i read about that. i know the turbine as i have often wondered what sort it was when driving past it. there are quite a few unusual one around that part of cornwall. a few big downwind types and a huge 2 blader. if i find out what they are i will post links.
if i cant fix it i can fix it so it cant be fixed.

Hi

We have a similar situation here in North Wales.  People come here in the summer think it is wonderful and buy a property in the area, out bidding the locals price wise.  Move into the property, then the winter comes and we get all the rain that makes the lovely grass and green trees grow they enjoyed the summer, and it finishes up as another holiday home or back on sale.

Every country has its share of NIMBYs and indeed BANANAs (Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anything)...  Some of yours sometimes visit us when not otherwise occupied making claims about elected leaders' birthplaces...

I have to say it is one impressive turbine more especially a private owned one
As far as NIMBYs go I can't stand them being a Banana at heart. I've been checking 100s of properties in far West Texas I have now narrowed them down to 12 prospective plots ranging from 60 to 360 acres 8 of which have exclusive wind rights listed right on the deeds these are also Lease-able since if I buy the properties I can do pretty much as I please
I live so far outside of the box, when I die they will stretch my carcass over the coffin

That's what Dave Koressh and Randy Weaver thought. You might buy the property but you will never own it.
