Egor's Engine Update
« on: November 17, 2006, 05:17:50 AM »
Hi all, did some more work on EE today and wanted to share some pictures.

This is most of the crankshaft. The brass end piece will hold the displacer crank arm. That will be done next. The stroke of the displacer will be 4.60 inches.

I used the xyz cutter to make the 3.45 inch hole that will hold the CV boot. There was a mistake in my original post. The size of the pot is aprox. ten inches in height and diameter. This lid is also only .190 inches thick. The nylatron gland can be seen on the lid.

A close up of the power piston boot and the gland. There is a ring that holds the boot to the lid and this will work as a seal. There is also a small O ring is under the gland.

Finally the displacer linkage made from Nylatron. This stuff makes excellent bearings and should last for a very long time. Will keep posting progress. Bill

Nice work!   looking forward to hearing about it running.  How are you going to connect the rods... Ross link, walking beam?   I've used them both and like either way.  The Ross link is more difficult to get a good balance and run slower but produce much more torque.   The walking beams are fun to watch, makes the whole machine come alive, easy to balance as well.

Ed, In a nut shell: I will use an offset double ended crankshaft that will allow the phase angle of the power piston to be adjusted against the displacer for optimum speed and power. Hue
