Nicely shrunk electricity bill!

Although my energy-saving measures have not been in palce for all of this quarter, our electricity bill is already £100 pounds (USD200) cheaper than it was for the same quarter last year, ie about £200 rather than £300.

I'm really hoping that we'll be paying nearer £100 per quarter, ie £400 per year, rather than over £300 per quarter (£1200, $2400 per year) as we did before.

Real tangible benefits of a little energy-wise thinking already!

It will be interesting to see if stopping all this waste heat from my servers' electricity makes our gas bill go up at all to compensate.  I suspect that it won't much, so the saving will prove to be real.

Just scanned straight from my electricity bill: a relatively nice feature of the bill.

I already spoke to the electricity company explaining what I was up to in the course of seeing what would be needed to set up a grid-tie, so they should realise that I'm not jumping the meter or have suddenly given up growing skunk under floodlights or something!

(No, I never did, before any of you ask!)

Wow, that is awesome!  Nobody can argue with saving money on their utility bills.  I don't know what your feelings are on it, but in my opinion you are helping to combat Global Warming, also.  Whether or not you believe in Global Warming, it certainly can't hurt to clean up the planet...and save some hard-earned cash in the process!  Way to go!

On balance I do believe that humans are contributing to GW and probably can do something to help (and should thus try to).  That was my initial motivation to go and do my sums and see what I could save easily without giving up my mod cons!  But it's amazing how much I was wasting with the over-complex baggage of having been an ISP many many years ago.

And a less-than-one-year time to recoup the expenditure (ie to "positive ROI") should warm the heart of even the most GW-sceptic bean-counter I think.

         Nice savings! Thanks for that nice link-- I'm going to print that out to show friends and family. Personally, I believe in global warming from everything I've been reading over the last year. I know some here don't believe it.  (Which 'freaks me out'!) The weather sure looks out of control around the world.  

Glad you're already getting big savings on your efforts!
