System is running yet again
« on: October 20, 2007, 03:35:34 AM »
The Prosine 2.0 arrived today, opened the box and it had a big REFURBISHED sticker on the front of it and below that, 90days warranty. Man I about cra**ed. I thought, here goes another battle with them to make sure my remaining 2 year warranty is still good. Called them up and within a few minutes they verified that I still have 1.6 years remaining on the warranty so I guess all is good other than I'm now running a refurbished unit instead of a new one. So far, it is working fine and if it continues to work I will be happy. It's manufacture date is the same as the first one I bought so it's really no different than the first one I had. As I said in a post somewhere I have used many refurbished devices over the years and have, so far, had good luck with them. First thing I did was put it in charge mode and let it rip on the battery at 100amps to make sure it will hold up as that seems to be when both of the previous ones have failed. I sent a schematic and pictures of my system to Xantrex for approval last week and they said it looked sound and saw no issues with it. So, back to tree cutting. I am just about done cutting trees around the place, cut two 50' pines right next to the house last weekend without destroying anything. Borrowed a friend's bucket truck to get to the tops of them to cut from the top down. Gonna use it again this weekend to cut a large oak next to the house (within 6 feet)and top out a couple more. Once done with this, I will have excellent exposure to the panels. I will then be getting sun from about 9 am to 5:30pm even this time of year with the sun being lower in the sky. So, with any luck after this weekend, I can call the tree cutting done and get back to panel building.

Man, your having quite a battle with them. I would have asked for my money back a long time ago. I never would have thought Xantex made such crap. If you've already gone through 3 units; bet there's hundreds or thousands out there that don't work either. Bad design probably...

Hope this one works OK ;)

Why can't Murphy's Law be used to my advantage?

Funny thing about this unit, I googled any negative things I could find on it and found nothing.

I think there is such thing as 'hush' money, if one can pay for insertion, logic follows that blanked cross-referential items are also easily retained. Not long ago I tried to uncover dirt on a household name OEM and the screens also came up blank...

There's one for the lawmakers - demanding truth in advertising on search engines.

I doubt they make enough $$$ to do that.  Never know.

I used at least many dozen, if not 100's, of items with the StatPower name without a problem I recall, other than user error.  There must have been 1 or a few that I don't recall.

Kelly is not an idiot. I figure he just "got lucky".

Maybe it was bad luck on #1. Then #2 was 'not quite' a second in QC, but somehow not quite right.  Semi-common practice to do that on some items {why send out a good one to be improperly connected, again}.

Or it could all be that 'China' thing...
