Economical wind plant?
« on: February 20, 2007, 09:20:31 AM »
I started working with wind 30 years ago, and gave up for my site. Excellent topography, but wind is not great here(North Idaho). I am rekindeled(sp) lately, but am working on high efficiency fossil fuel for winter, tho any wind would cut my fuel. Was considering a home built, but don't see how I can compete with this option.

  1. 2' fiberglass composite blades and hub $160
  2. w pm alternator                       $375

home built rest of the stuff              ???

from magnet4less.com

How can I go wrong?

I have enough major projects going on, and this just seems like good, cheap, wind power.

Course this means I need to get the other 2 legs on 3 legged, self supporting log tripod 100' tower done. Let's see, 5 years to get the first leg up .....

sorry, don't know how to insert or link to this

You need a tower, batteries, and some electrical stuff.  It'll cost you some $$$ even if you are really good at scrounging.

Since DanB doesn't mind the posting of competitors...

Is www.magnet4sale.com  a reputatable site? Have you bought magnets from them(Has anyone else)? They look pretty cheap compared to a lot of other places and I really don't have extra money to spend(I'll still be sure to buy something from forcefield though :-D ). I know that Hugh Piggot's website lists them as a source for magnets. Any thoughts would be great.
