Hello ppl,
i have been reading and learning for some months now,
and build a 1.4 meter (=4.5 foot) 3 blade prop from a huge plastic trashcan.
Nothing calculated, just did what looked good.
It freewheels pretty allright i think, now i'm looking for a good alternator to let an ordinairy light bulb burn. I cant find/make a PMA any moment now, so i think output will be limited to ~15W at an average wind speed of 7/8 m/s with a good brush generator like a car alt, wich will probably to heavy ?.
Therefore i was thinking about a 500W AC brush motor from a drilling machine, will this work, and will it be good(not to big/to small) as generator for this little prop ?
I have 600W 2 phase induction motor here to, but thats not an option at all, as i have read, it needs >3000rpm to output any power.
(All motors above where built for 230V, 50hz).
So ... any advice would be welcome !
(This is only an experiment to learn/practice the basics)
