Wind Turbine up in air
« on: June 20, 2009, 05:10:40 AM »
I finally got my second version of the wind turbine up in the air.  The first was a F&P.  the tail boom was weak; it snapped and chopped the blades as well as crack the magnetic rotor.  This one is stronger.  The link of it running is at http://www.mindchallenger.com/wind/axial15.html

There is not a lot of wind now, and during the summer I have a lot of leaves on my trees, which I am leaving alone.  In the winter I get a lot more wind.  The generator did achieve enough voltage to activate the grid-tie inverter, which interfaced perfectly with my solar grid-tie inverters.

I would like to thank everyone for putting up with my questions.  Your help has been invaluable.  I will keep you updated with the amount of power it actually generates.  Right now I have a 15% efficiency curve programmed into the inverter.  I will experiment when there is a lot of wind with higher efficiencies.

the turbine looks great mate g,day from Western Australia  it seems very close to trees did yuo make sure to leacve enough of a gap from the trees not to obstruct its airflow.Something else that conserns me is putting it so colse to tress kepp branches well cleer but well done

It is further from the trees than it appears.  There is definitely airflow obstruction right now, but in the winter there is a steady breeze.  Ideally, I would go above the trees, but this won't work on my property.  I have to work with what I have.
