Iowa town is encouraging the use of electricity
« on: February 25, 2006, 04:36:19 PM »
Mason City this week became the first Iowa town to set rules that allow windmills in commercial, industrial and residential zones. The City Council unanimously approved the ordinance Tuesday.

It's a small step, but the easier it is to get through the red tape, the better.

Have fun, Scott.

"Residents of Cape Cod, Mass., who oppose a proposed offshore wind farm say it would create visual pollution."

Visual pollution?!?!   Are they kidding?  I think it's great watching these turbines do their thing.  ;-)

I agree!

I hear the thousands of dead birds... as a Major excuse.

Except there is NO data to support such a thing.

Maybe they think the birds are as stupid as they are. Then again that implies thinking.

If the birds were dying then they would be littering the ground around wind farms.

Not seen it.

Have fun,

Scott.

The birds might be the excuse, but Sen. Kennedy is strongly opposed to it (understatement) and guess where the wind farm would be visible from?  You guessed it - the area around his home.  NIMBY at its finest / worst.

"Visual pollution?!?! "

Yes, I agree with them too. I would hate to have my view of a cell phone tower ruined by a windmill in the way.

Stupid nuts!!!!  Nough said I think!

Hey let's drive by and see how many roadside billboards we can find in their area :(

"No chance getting that here, too many old people who dont care about our future..."

That applies to many things. That is the problem with our government also today.

Politicains with no real life experience in general real life. They don't know the real world at all. Most never had a real job. Some are still living in the 60's with no idea that REAL life has changed a bit since then. Some are yuppies fresh out of collage and only book learned idiots never living a real life that the rest of us have to face daily. Tons more things I could say but this is not the time or place.

One thing, if you ever see "VOTE FOR NTL" anywhere then do it! :)

Not a real serious thought at this time, but I do have some ideas in mind I put thought into.

One thing for certain, I can't do any worse than some of those already in offices, unless you count spellin and typing.

Do you want good spelling and typing or do you want good government?

Vote NTL, if you ever get the chance :)

Some-one with a real life real world experience!

It's not the politicians, it's the people voting for them.  Why do the people who "know" the real world vote for these idiots?  Is it because they are too ready to trade their freedoms for supposed government benefits?  (Do you see that person when you look in a mirror?)  The problem is that these so-called benefits are really illusionary.  It has become almost impossible for a young family of four with High School educations to make ends meet because of the amounts taken out of their checks by ever more greedy governments.  And that's true even when both work.  Not only that, the programs that are supposed to make sure that the children of these families get adequate care are also showing signs of failure.  Would this NTL fellow be prepared to dismantle these socialist programs and allow people to keep the money they earn?

Tax Chinese imports instead!

Do it in Des Moines ! !
« Reply #12 on: March 05, 2006, 09:55:48 PM »
Hey! !

How can I get that same legislation passed right here in Des Moines Iowa! ?

I am really sick and tired of Mid American Energy,(owned by the greedy Warren Buffet) dictating what I do with my wind Gen projects.

Basically I've been keeping a low profile while I try out and fly my own VAWT projects.

Any suggestions on getting the same status as Mason City?

Every time I take I-235 North, just past Mason City I can't help drool over the wind farm. There is a farm as you head west to Fort Dodge too.
