If your battery is reasonably similar as the

current battery residing in the car, you

can just plug it parallel to that battery,

it means - to - and + to +.

autozone, jcwhitney and rv sales have batt isolators to keep strong batt from being discharged into week batt.  grainger has high amp plugs if you want to leave extra batt in auto overnight.  miht i suggest very good holddowns in trunk?

For a good background, it is wortwile to read the following tutorial:

You may need to raise the tension for a deepcycle battery, and then

to drop it for the car battery with a appropriate, well cooled

powediode.
