---SOLD ft: 11 solar panels. 235 and 170 watt---SOLD
« on: September 12, 2011, 10:32:30 AM »
I have 11 solar panels with a problem similar to the one described here...
http://fieldlines.com/board/index.php/topic,145487.0.html

I got these to repair, but seeing whats involved i'm not particularly interested in doing all that right now. if someone has an interest in fixing these up for themselves. i'll swap them to a small single solar panel in the 235 watt area. i'm going to use it for what these were originally to be used for to provide a means of backup power to a HF amateur radio station.

please call

i've had few life changes since getting these panels and it looks as if i just wont have the time to mess with them. i'll let all 11 go for $200.00 to compensate for my gas and time going to get them. if anyone is in the greater denver area i will be up to moms in arvada this weekend and can meet you there.

the silicone cells seem mostly ok but the glass needs total redoing. its not a simple task for the inexperienced. but a potential few kW of panels for $200.00 i should think it's worth somebody's time and energy.

i had my arm worked on so you would be on your own getting them out of the downstairs storage neither me or my g/f could help.

my email is kc8gpd at hotmail

thanks,

robert

robert-
i'm really surprised someone hasn't taken you up on these.  i've found, that after repair with auto style clear cote, that you still get ~50% output from them.  there's no chance in replacing the glass, it's laminated to the EVA underneath, and trying to remove it would surely crack the cells.

if i was closer (pdx, or), i'd take them off your hands, though i already have two cracked/repaired redheaded step children (evergreens) to contend with.

someone ought to jump on this though.  it really is a bargain.  isn't the host of this site (dan) in CO?  surely he or one of his neighbors could use some more juice??

robert-  if you've got any road trips to portland, or, i'll take you up on them.  but i'm guessing that is not the case.

someone will take you up on these, just be patient.  it'll happen.

i may be interested in a swap as well if short on funds. maybe small wind turbine (500 watt class?) or pair of working of high power panels that will give me close to 500 watts.

i am planning for emergency backup system for ham radio and low power am broadcast setup. kind of like a dynamic emcomm system that can be put up quickly and easily during a disaster.

this was the original intent of getting these panels.

someone came and got them. we tested them all as we stacked them in his truck. they all made rated voltage +/- 1 volt. i had them advertised on C/L and someone from ColoSprings got them.
