Can I power up a Classic 150 Lite using a 12v car battery just to hook it up?

I just want to hook it up to my PC to download the firmware. I intend on eventually using it for 48v but I can set the dip switches under the front cover to 12v. My solar panels are at a remote location and I don't have them up yet. I didn't see anything in the manual saying I could or couldn't.

Yes. You install drivers for the Classic on your computer/OS, then power up the Classic, then plug it in.
