Lathe setup
« on: May 06, 2008, 09:22:09 PM »
I finally got most of the new shop set up. I now hve room to actually do some work.

I decided to put the old Barnes lthe back on its originl legs. It did not seem as old while on the metal desk, but is better this way. I have the overhead drive and clutch and will install it sometime.

This is an old hand crank grinder. This thing really winds up to high rpm's. it is a little awkward trying to grind a tool bit or drill while turning the crank.

The patent date is 1887 so it was built around 1890? Definately before OSHA relegated them to the scrap yards.
