heating directly from wind power
« on: October 15, 2006, 02:04:21 AM »
One of my random thoughts here, would it be possible to hook one of those tungsten heating elements directly to wind turbine output wires to provide some heat as the wind turbine worked?

I was at the hardware store, seems like I seen some smaller 120v 1440watt little heating elements.  So would this work?

The other random thought I had was that I remember seeing some sort of scammy little "free energy oil heater device" online.  It was like two cans spinning within each other, just motor oil seperating them.  The friction in the motor oil produced heat or something, but the part they forgot to mention was that you needed a motor to spin them.  So really, you're using more power to spin it than what you're getting out of it in heat.  But what if this type of device was hooked directly to a VAWT?
