Need homemade battery additive.

I have a battery pack that is dieing. I really need a homemade battery additive. I have searched the internet, there are plenty of products that claim to work. So far as I can see it is mostly about taking my money. I read on the internet about EDTA as an additive. I called around and found one place selling EDTA 500 grams for 200.00 dollars. There has to be a better way. All comments welcomes. Thank You

From what Ive heard additives kill the battery even faster than it would be naturally. With the cost you stated its probably best to buy a new battery (depending on how much a new one is).

It seemed like I remembered EDTA from back in the days when my father was alive and used to make wine.  So I Googled for "edta winemaking" and found this link among others:
