2 years ago I had a carpenter freind build a 7ft 3 blade wood prop.
It looks good but doesn't work very well. I think its just too flat from root to tip.
I don't think being flat at the tip is hurting anything but it needs more pitch at the root.
I'm thinking of adding aluminum flairs or skirts at the root and extend them about 1/3 rd the way towards the tip. I'll use bolts through the blade. This will hold the aluminum to the blade. The leading edge pice will be on the front (wind side) and the trailing edge pice will be on the back.
It boils down to this or use it for fire wood. I thought I'd give it one more chance and I have a nice pile of scrap aluminum any way.
I don't think the aluminum will be stressed in this hybrid blade the way it would be stressed in an all aluminum blade?
I'll try to get some pix. Any thoughts or maybe sugjest a good shrink?
