Oversteering
« on: December 24, 2004, 04:17:10 PM »
After watching my little genny during a lot of different wind conditions I am a bit perplexed. It has a terrible habit of serious oversteering whenever the wind shifts direction. I have a light weight frame and I am thinking with such a smooth bearing, the weight of the motor creates enough force that the tail just can't overcome it.

Is there a rule to tail area to weight and body length? My ultra mini points into the wind just like my anemometer while my ametek wags it's tail back and forth, seeking most of the time. At times I begin to think it is going to start backwards. The tail is removeable and adjustable, length wise for balance. I balenced the mill last time I had it down.

Just wondering if A larger tail would help.

You might do a search for furling as I believe it has been discussed many times before on this board. I believe tail length was discussed.

This may help
