Terra Moya Aqua
« on: November 07, 2005, 04:36:09 PM »
So an article on Wired News mentioned that a company named Terra Moya Aqua has made a VAWT that "is 43 percent to 45 percent efficient, creating up to 80 percent more power" than most other turbines.  Does anyone know who this company is and any further information about their claim?  I did an obligatory Google search, but not much came up.

Here's a PDF of their original patent:

Here's their website:

I can't comment on their design but I'm sure there's lots of folks on this website who could.

My comment would be:

Claims of efficency are sort of ?????

Wind Swept AREA - How Big is the rotor?

Height- Higher the better

Location - how's the wind there

I like the VAWT concept but a 9 foot rotor HAWT up 60 foot is practical

and proven.

That said, these look really good to me for tops of buildings. I could

see hundreds of these systems in San Francisco for example.... -Joe
