Grid-tie inverter
« on: February 01, 2011, 12:02:05 AM »
While searching for info on the enphase micro grid tie inverter I came across an inverter called Enviro-tech that is suppose to be  a solar/wind micro grid-tie unit. After looking at the unit it lm Not so sure it is on the up and up has anyone else here seen or heard about them.

Those are sold under "swea" now. Stay away from them unless you live in a third world country. Those are plugin to an outlet grid-tie. Years ago they were made in Holland. Then elsewhere. Ebay has them and they are illegal and dangerous. The NEC forbids backfeeding the grid with something that plugs in like that. If you did happen to "get lucky" and actually run the meter backwards you electric supplier would find out shortly and cut you off. Then fine you for tampering with the meter, since that is what it would register as unless you had a net meter. You can't get a net meter without buying a proper grid-tie inverter and having it installed to code.

The name changes to stay ahead of importation bans. I've reported the device to eBay when it was under a different name.

EnPhase on the other hand is completely legit assuming your local codes and utility allow for it.
