Heat Source for Biogas Digester
« on: April 20, 2011, 12:46:05 PM »
Just had one of my "might be brilliant, might be idiotic" ideas...

Have been doing all of my Due Diligence getting everything ready for my first (household sized) Digester
If production from a Biogas Digester relies in no small part to maintaining a certain (very warm) temp,
and if the inside of a compost pile can easily reach above and beyond 120 degrees
would it not be feasible to bury your digester in the middle of a large compost pile?

My guess is that it would at least provide a nice thermal mass,
and if maintained properly would certainly be a natural way to keep it heated 24-7
hhhmmm... still thinking. Might actually work.

So...Brilliant, or idiotic?
