Audubon posts my AE story
« on: November 25, 2011, 02:28:39 PM »
Here's a link to our local Audubon Society and their new website Green Home Chautauqua. http://greenhomechautauqua.com/  My log home is featured and my turbine, solar hot air and voltaic panels as well. They were happy to post this as to create a greater awareness of Green Energy and conservation in general. I visited the hay bail constructed (insulated) home that is also written about and it was interesting as well. Your local Audubon Society may have similar resources for public awareness also.  Dave B.

Thanks Damon and Bruce for the compliments. It's safe to say I'm hooked on AE and this board has been part of the adiction since I found the Dans here building wooden alternators way back when. I have many more plans that I am working on and I'll be posting updates on those soon also. It sure is fun to gather in your own energy.  Dave B.

I've written up a couple of pieces for The Register (I can put in links if anyone wants) around this topic.  The Register is not terribly renewables-friendly by default, and a lot of the the comments are of the form "but what's the point, what's the payback period?" (a question they never ask about their latest 600W plasma TV or SUV of course), but some people do understand the "it's fun to generate your own energy" and "I might now be part of the solution" drivers.

Plus your house and grounds are enviable just on looks alone...  B^>

Any mention of bird murders? Being "bird folks" they likely think of such "threats.

Sorry just my sick mind rambling.

Nice place, too!

Thanks for the share.

Funny you should ask. Knowing it could be a touchy subject I specifically asked how they felt about wind power well before anything was written. Wind is good was their reply, there will always be their concern for known migration routes and nesting sites for not just wind installs but large construction projects of any kind. It's the Audubon Society and that's just a part of who they are and what they do. Thanks again for the compliments on my own story, I look forward to adding another chapter with solar hot water sometime soon.  Dave B.
