banki turbineswater
« on: July 24, 2014, 12:02:52 PM »
some friends of mine is moving to portugal and are considering the feasibility of a banki turbine. not a lot of solid details on the site yet but it seems there is a lot of fast flowing water in the winter so i suggested a banki turbine coupled to a low speed alternator. i have the alternator from my now abandoned wind turbine. i have gone over to solar as i have a source of cheap panels.
it sounds like there is around 6 foot or so of head, maybe more, so i thought 2 IBC's on top of each other with an overflow and put the turbine nozzle on the  bottom where the tap usually  goes. does this sound as if it will work. damming the river is not on so this sounds like a solution. using the formula height in  inches/27 to get the pressure gives me 2.6 PSI into the nozzle. will this be enough?
if i cant fix it i can fix it so it cant be fixed.
