EBL's hit the mark
« on: August 15, 2014, 04:21:39 PM »
These are the 2300mah version, versus the 2800mah version.  I kind of wonder if the 2300mah are simply 2800mah that didn't hit the mark at the factory, but as 2300mah they certainly do, at least with my testing.  Cost was $1.22 @ (8 for $9.69/free shipping) and rated at 1500 cycles.

Voltage was about 1.28v when I received them.  Initial charge at 1000mah, discharge rate 500mah.  Capacity 1st cycle,
2288mah,2315mah,2307mah,2218mah.

Second cycle 1000mah charge, 500mah discharge.  Hitting the mark at 2391mah,2459mah,2458mah,2374mah.

I think a good deal, but time will tell from here on out.

The hard part of buying rechargable cells is knowing if the numbers are real. There is rampant fraud on eBay and Amazon and both refuse to deal with it. There are 3000 mah cells advertised. No such thing exists outside of the military.

Anything above about 2000 tend to be fragile. You need a smart charger/discharger for any high capacity cell series pack, otherwise overdischarge will reverse one of the cells. The portable lights you are building are battery safe because they don't pull much current.

EBL overrates their cells, but not by much. Less than $2 each is a fair price for capacity above 2500 mah.
