stators get destroyed because of a lot of factors. I really don't want to set fire to my first alt. Not today not next year. so one thing I thought I could do to make my alt more ak47 like is to spread the workload for a 10 footer from 9 to 18 coils. the coils are the same size as a 9 coil stator. I did this by making the alt a 6 phase and adding 3 more magnets per rotor. I also increased the diameter of the rotor by 6 inches. here is the drawing. I realize that this is a stronger alt but the gap could be adjusted if needed. comments welcome
