My free tower
« on: September 08, 2003, 06:29:18 PM »
Ok today I stumbled upon an offer I couldn't turn down. I was talking to a friend about my wind machines. I told him I aquired a free 30 foot utility poll from my employer. As we were talking I noticed he had tower 50 feet high with a tv antena mounted on it. He said you want it you can have it for takeing it down. He paid over $300 dollars for it 5 years ago. I guess my pack ratting luck has suddenly struck it rich. I couldn't turn it down so wednessday I will take my safty harness and start dissassembling it. I think it's better not to tell my wife she most likely wont like it. The quality of this tower is excellent it should be perfectly safe climming up and takeing it down in sections. No room for laying it down in one piece. wish me luck guys.

Well just a short entry on my progress. Today I got my free tower down. I dug a hole at the site where it's going to be. I mixed up 7 bags of concreat and cemented the first section in the ground. Next saturday the rest of the tower goes back together and I should have another genny ready by then. Sorry no pictures. A digital camra is on my wish list for this christmas.
