PWM DC-DC converter school

Here's and excellent site that explains yet another DC-DC converter system. It's an overview of how basic engine ignition systems work.


What I've been playing around with is very similar to the way these systems operate.


The big difference is that they're powering HV ignition coils, while I'm powering a 1:1 transformer. The switching methodology is virtually identical. Pay close attention to the requirements they list for a switching transistor.
