Video game exersize bike
« on: October 25, 2004, 10:11:10 AM »
I picked up a 600 watt inverter at a rummage sale last week for $25.00. (port-a-wattz 600 modified sign wave) This idea hit me square in the head. If I build a genney like the ones on this site and attach it to the exersize bike then to a deep cycle marine battery then to the inverter and hook the ps2 and the 21" tv my kid has to pedal to charge the battery and then can play the ever so important video games. Hmmm might have to look in further on this one.

Homepower has a story with numbers and photos on their site.

I think there are a couple here too.

Looks easy.

With a 100 watt television and considering all the loss involved (mechanical->DC->battery->AC), you'll kill the poor kid! To put it into perspective, a master bicyclist can produce 300 watts only for a couple minutes. Well, not really saying it's impossible, but could result in a call from a school guidance counselor or such (my daddy forces me to pedal a machine for an hour just to play video games for a few minutes!). :D

That would be considered a bad thing?  I always hear we are killing our kids by not making them exersize enough.  Rich
