Making DO
« on: March 26, 2005, 06:35:11 PM »

It would be nice to have a band saw to carve blades with. But it is possible to use some other tools too.I have an old cable spool-work table so I bolted some pieces of angle iron to it.Using C-clamps to hold the work piece horizontal while sawing one angle and verticle for the others.

As you can see the skill-saw does some and the saws-all cuts the taper. This gives a smother finish than hand saw and chisel method I used before. And for finishing work.Northern-Tools has an adapter kit that turns a high speed metal grinder into a high speed wood sander. Then I used a dry-wall smother as a hand planer. So far so good, its raining so had to close my aboreal shop.Warning These Tools Were Not Nessarly Ment TO Work On These Angles So Take Care.

Mel

There is a wheel you can get for your grinder that looks like it was an orphan of a chain saw . I saw it on one of those h&g specials on tv. The guy was carving some prety wild stuff with it.

You have to be careful with those though, because they can rip you a new one real quick. ;)
