« on: October 09, 2005, 02:22:47 AM »
I built this to test the 6 volt golf car batteries in my E-car.

Hope thi pix work? I've got a new camera and not sure how to us it yet. I think I need to reduce the megapixels?

hey wheres the bread--looks like a cool toaster...;}

just turn your camera down to its lowest setting..on mine it has between one and a five star setting --i always use the one star setting and they turn out great...

sure was a great summer up here--cooling off now --low 30s at night...

dang broke a pin on my spare  harddrive and now it dosent power up even thou i sodered the pin back on--lost all my dig, picts,--2 years worth--campin -hikin -and all the rest....must be a way to get them out of there????????????

guess i kinda got off the subject..........later.

What are the coils out of?

I notice a $3 meter still came into use. I love those things.

Are you using the factory built shunt to calibrate you home built one?

Hi Dr D.

Yes...my son purchased a new 400 amp meter and shunt for the e-car. I hadn't installed it yet and this more pressing mater of bad batteries came up so this is a temperary home for the meter.

I think I'll buy another meter though. This thing is very handy.

Hi G.

The coils are from an electric furnes eliment. They were 50" long (25" bend X 25").

The total rating was 240 volts at 3400 watts. I just cut it up in 2" lingths and then used those littel braeker box ground strips with the hole and set screws.

These are screwed to the 1/4" X 1.5" copper bars. There are 3 sections so load amounts can be changed by removing sections.

The HF meter tracks voltage. I didn't have enough 4/0 welding cable for the test leads. I had some 3/0 though and it works fine.
