wind switch e brake
« on: November 03, 2005, 08:30:45 PM »
we had 60 mph winds right before i put the genney back up.

with a new wind switch calibrated to kick in at 20mph.

the wind started to blow.

the genney started to turn.

spinning ever so faster, with the wind switch flap swinging up.

the genney stoped and started several times until the switch was full on.

then the genny started to turn the wrong way !

about 5 rpm clock wise.

i the motors i use are.

ideal

  1. 5 hp
  2. vdc

so i had to switch the ebrake on so not to drain the bank.

so i think i'll still use a wind switch but not the way i thought.

and just eat the 1% or so "each" diode loss.

now to cut the flap down to kick on at 70 or so?
