Hard to decide
« on: February 21, 2006, 01:17:12 PM »
I've been collecting stuff for a while trying to decide which way to go for a first time wind gen, till I came across this.

It was going to be thrown out because no one new what to do with it.After asking Zubbly about it I decided to rescue it from total oblivion.(lol)

So here goes nothing. You know the best part about this is I'm actualy starting to grasp this stuff.(heads pretty thick)Any help or comments gladly taken, thats half the fun.

If anyone wants to get a closeup shot of the last pic. it's in his files, labeled brook 9 (gives spec's ). Looks like a good project, have fun! Gary D.

Hi Dan Im thinking you would have 36 slots and the voltage would be 208/230 not 416.It would be a 4pole motor for magnet placement though. What did Zubbly tell you?

it could be dual voltage- i have a 230/460 motor here. it has a whole bunch of leads, some of which seem to be center taps on the coils.

Yes vawtman,

I count 36 slots 1770 means 4 pole, 208-416 means series / parallel windings for dual voltage setup This will give a lot of options between star series, star parallel delta series, delta parallel. or dare I say it,........ Jerry series/parallel. a natural for the parallel setup ...........oztules

Dan.

 I have a motor that looks just like that.It's a Alpak 230/460 volt 6 pole 1165rpm

15 HP 12 wire (delta). I put 36 (6x6) of the old #29 arched magnets in it and got

close to 10 KW out of it at 1100 rpm wired Delta.

Hi again:  There are 9 leads comming out and I'm wondering if I need to go inside to bring out more or figure a combination of the 9.Or maybe I'll work the rotor first then play with the connections after. The label for the connections is still on the motor,I think its in one of the pics.(for duall voltage). Havn't got hold of Zub again .He needed more pics of winding.Which I got up. You guys are great help.Hope someday I can figure enough of this out to help someone else and return favour.

I do have a set of TDM blades I made just for fun, they spin like crazy but havn't found a gen for them yet,I suspect I'll need a larger set for this one.(TDM only 1 meter a blade)  Thanks again

 Having fun and learning
