Modutrol Motor
« on: May 09, 2006, 03:32:20 AM »
I was given this old spud cellar vent open/close acuator.
"Honeywell"
160 Deg 1 min .80 Amps  18 watts
24 volt 50/60 Hz
"M944A1002"

Upon opening it up I saw a black wire had come undone, Hmm...
O well
I hope to be able to get it figured out and pick up a
"RedRock" LED tracker and get the girlfriends cabins solar panels
to follow the sun better and also hope to get 20%+ increase in panels out puts!
LOL
:)

"an inverter to run it"

Yea, I'm pretty sure it needs AC

I haven't researched it yet but will before playing with it.

Also will have to talk girlfriend into letting me play with

her solar panels, might just have to use it first as a tracker

for a solar water panel I'm building.

But for now just adding to my junk collection. lol

It looks like the stroke is similar to a windshield wiper motor although the speed is more appropriate with this one for tracker use.

I think a small motor turning a big gear threaded on to all-thread is the ticket for tracking.  The sun doesn't move very fast so speed isn't an issue.  The gear on all thread gives high torque/force with no force feedback into the motor, IE no holding force required.
