Heat it up with a torch and wack at it with a masonry chisel 'til she comes free.

wilib i think you need to get it into a garage. a big impact gun on those torks fittings or a torch  or both . if you grind the heads off those machine screws and could seperate the pieces you will still want the shank of the screws to be cut off.

if you leave the plate in place could you use it as a stator support bracket?

Drilling works, if you can get it there.

An old trick is to weld a nut on the screw.

It often helps.

One trick I have used when taking apart "riveted" ball joints is to use an air hammer with chisel to cut the heads off.  This could possibly work here as well.  I've also been told by some mechanics that they use a cutting torch to carefully burn the heads off.

I suspect it's just painted/rusted on.  Try some heat (even a propane torch on the sheet metal just outside the bearing flange and then some good healthy wacks with a hammer.

Old trick of mine, in case of paint and rust:

Soak overnight in Drain-O  or oven cleaner (EZ-Off) to remove paint and grease. Generically, use soap-maker's lye eg. Red Devil brand. Douse or hose all off with the hottest water possible. Then (2nd day) soak overnight in vinegar to remove rust, etc. The vinegar is safe for very fine surfaces also.

Hiya WilliB,

Over here  in Oz is a product called RP40 which is in a spray can dunno what the US equilivent would be but spray the whole thing with it and leave it overnight. Then setup a jig to support the outer then use a brass dolly to give it a good wack. If that doesn't work then it might be more suitable for a weapon to chuck at a noisy neighbour :) hehehe

Cheers Bryan
