Where was this little wind up duck made? What year was he born?

1956--japan..

back then we sold them are scrap metal--and we bought it back as cheap metal toys..

i can remember taking one apart when i was a kid--it was made out of a v8 juice can

and what ever else--could still see the print on the inside of the toy..[no paper lables back then]

nice little heat pump mill...?

That skill test is easy. Either 0 or infinity, depending on the value of '1'.

i know a few of my toys were made from tin cans-made in japan..

still cracks me up --take im apart and see all the diffrent cans they were made from..

Germany 1945 ... the duck was used by the Germans to smuggle important material out of the country while being under siege by the Allies. The duck was used either by by letting it swim downstream a river or by airdrop from a high flying Heinkel bomber. One duck mysteriously surfaced near the Hudson river (it became later known that a German sub had been depth charged not too far away a day earlier) and was picked up by a young boy. One day the duck fell to the ground when the boys father picked up some tools from a shelf. The duck opened and revealed detailed drawings on a low temperature stirling engine that would spin a fan on a 7 DegC temp differential ... the fathers name was James Senft.

oh- not just cheap toys- there are reports of early ferarri owners removing the body panels from their very expensive sports cars, only to find that the insides were painted with the signage of some local establishment. it seems that flat steel was in short supply, and the factory guys resorted to night-time raids of businesses and billboards for materials.

I'm going to go with 1 for the skills question based upon the order of operations.

(1)*(2) which equals 2 and then subtract one to obtain an answer of one.

As for the duck, I really don't know. I know that a bunch were made in Germany and Japan, and quite a few in china as well. Based on the tabs with how it is put together, I am going to take a wild guess that it is from Japan. It is difficult for me to guess it's vintage as well, but a while it could be older, I will guess late 60's. If I have to nail it down, I'll go with 1968. It probably takes a removable key to wind it up on the far side. All are guesses. Rich
