My trip to RE fair
« on: July 01, 2006, 08:27:37 PM »
My trip to The Big Tent 2006(It's strictly not an RE fair but a forest stewardship fair which concentrated mostly on alternative tech).

I brought with me the solar backpack I made recently. There was lots on and it went on from 9.00 to 5.30. I spotted a Piggott turbine and investigated:

I met Neil, one of the guys who does the Hugh Piggott wind turbine courses in Edinburgh and we had a quick chat. There was a cool solar caravan thing with lots of things:

Solar electric bike

Model railway run by solar.

Solar hot water heater. The water came out almost boiling out one end through a pump.

There was lots of other stuff including a bicycle generator which I dont have any pictures of, but it looked like a car alternator strapped to a bike wheel but in a fancy frame and with software to monitor your power and different loads. There was also strawbale construction, composting, recycling, info on hydrogen and RE etc. there was alot of  talks going through the day when the fan was very useful.
