elevated mood from magnets ?
« on: July 15, 2006, 09:32:49 PM »
has anyone else experienced an elevated mood just by playing with magnets .

when i was redoing my rotor from 7/8"x1/2" neos to 7/8" x 1" , i noticed that my mood was elevated , i was not in a bad mood to start with , but during the removal process and subsequent installation of the new magnets , i was feeling downright elated .

has anyone else experienced this?

The elation comes from doing something you enjoy, knowing that it will gain you knowledge and enriching your life. :)

I spoke to a co-worker who said he had experienced effects from close proximity to strong magnets, claiming dizzyness and headaches, similar to drunkeness.  He explained it had something to do with magnetic fields aligning the water molecules in your body.

I personally never experienced any such effects.

Willib, I think that when you are using neo magnets the though of having them stick to something, like the change or keys in your pocket, or do something dangerous is a reality. "EG" Auto racing, the element of the unknown is always there. Watching a real life movie with an invisible force field present. Bill

Had a suspicion for a long time, but this is positive proof: Dutchmen are crazy! And I'm not one of them. Honestly. Absolutely not. Nope.

Willib, I usually get in a foul mood from Neos. But I ascribe this to pinched skin and other little accidents that tend to happen when I'm fooling around with such magnets.

I never needed a box of bandaids in the workshop, until I got them <expletive deleted> neo magnets. Not only did they cause many a wound, the swearing words I've used may have cost me my place in heaven. That, and all of my tools seem to have become magnetic.

BTW, back in the mid-80s, we had a famous 3rd rate singer in the Netherlands (Nico Haak), who used to make a lot of advertisements for a magnetic bracelet (good for just about any ailment under the sun). Then he suddenly died. I've never seen anyone wearing any of those bracelets ever since, nor have I seen them advertising it :)

If you understand Dutch:

http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nico_Haak

The last line says: "The fact that he just before his death linked his name to an advertisement campaign for health-bracelets leads in all of The Netherlands to examples of morbid office humour."

Better be careful with those magnets, Willib, I'd hate to miss your presence on this board ;)

Peter.

I don't know about magnets, but I recently switched from drinking Canadian Whiskey to Tequilla, and I swear, my mood is different late in the evening. I think more scientific study of this phenomenon is necessary. Where's my glass? What time is it anyway?

Hi Willi,

I think the elevated mood may be associated with how smoothly the task went.

If everything goes as planned, it satisfies and elates folks.

If Murphy's Law strikes, I think you would have experienced negative emotions, as evidenced by dinges.

However, I may be wrong.  I suggest you do another experiment to compare.  In this next experiment, please try to get a minimum of 3 blood blisters, shatter 2 or 3 magnets, add some miscellaneous chemicals (such as a thinner, or too much epoxy hardener) to the epoxy or glue to hold the magnets (to ensure glue doesn't do what you want it to do).  When you get to a very crucial point in your experiment, have 2 small children burst into the room fighting with each other, or have a child flip the light switch and leave you in darkness, just to be mischievous.  (Unexpected Vaseline applied to surfaces you want to glue, or iron filings dumped on your magents may also help in the experiment.)

If after this experiment, you still feel an elevated mood, I'd say you might be on to something about the magnets.

Please do not throw any tools or the motor conversion at the mischievous children - you don't want to hurt the conversion.  =)

And yet, it's been said that being near electromagnetic fields from high tension power lines is bad.  Go figure.

Personally, I think magnets for medical healing is a bunch of snake oil.  Anyone will do a study on anything if they can get funding for it.

then put xenon or neon bulbs on you magnets

They have some neodymium suppositories along with a neodymium

urethra catheter,..insert each one accordingly to achieve a tinglng

sensation followed by heightened mood.

leave in for 72 hours DO NOT REMOVE BEFORE!!

or you will not achieve maximum results.

The magnetic fields from the high tension lines keep reversing very quickly.  Because of this the mood control part of your brain gets confused.  That's why they're bad.
