First peek at my new Genny

Crate (1280 lbs on a shipping scale!) in the back of my tonka-truck WITH the trailer I bought to haul the genny.

Crate without the trailer.

I took the sides off so I could get teh proper 60/40 balance on the trailer.

First look! (28oz  framing hammer included for size comparison)

Convienient lift-eyes.

Lifting it out of the truck.

I just lifted it up enough to clear the bed, then rolled the trailer in under the genny.

Look at the size of that flywheel!

Another shot from the front.

Spare parts and tools included... Even came with a head gasket!

Turns out the combined load of the genny and trailer was actually LESS than a few of the wood loads I've been bringing home (based on amount of squat). Unfortunately my plans to tinker with the genny this weekend fell through, but I've reschedualed for labor day weekend.

Very nice, I am jealous. I have been collecting all of the stuff to collect wvo and build a biodiesl processor for about a year now. I hope to finish in the spring and run the bio in a nice generator like yours. My thoughts are to run the gen set once a day for a few hours to charge up batteries to produce enough power for the next day. I have a lot of details to work out though.

Wow - that is alot of generator...

Here is a link from a guy my Brother knows down in florida..

http://www.f1-rocketboy.com/lister.html

Its a good read anyhow.

Not the same generator style but similar problems and safety precautions for unattended operation - oil and coolant sensors, weak fuel lines ... who knows.

Please consider inspecting the sump AND changing the oil after a few minutes running in case the castings had contamination, some diesel clones are known for sand pockets remaining after sand casting of motor block. Also check all the wiring terminations and crimp connectors often, especially the generator mains as if they get a high resistance connection and overheat you may not have enough wire left to reterminate them...

Phssthpok,

I had to chuckle when I remembered you were worried about the weight on your truck and saw you put another trailer on top of it!  You're s'posed to put the genny in the trailor behind your truck.  :-)

Wow, that's a lot of generator.  Will this stay a mobile unit or is the little trailor just to get it where it's going?  Also I'm a little worried about the exposed ring gear on the flywheel...

Nice rig!

LOL...Yeah amazingly enough the load with the genny AND the trailer was LESS (gauging by squat) than some of the wood loads I've hauled away from work!

The reason I had to put it in the truck was that with the walls on the trailer I couldn't get a proper weight balance and the trailer kept pulling straight up off the ball as we tried to lower the genny on. (I didn't know there was an adjusting nut to tighten the coupler tolerances!). I would have just pulled the trailer empty, but I didn't have the pigtail wired up yet, and my roomate volunteered his truck (that we weer SUPPOSED to use because it DID have the pigtail) to move a queen headboard right after work! (cheesy-bat-rastard...)

It all worked out though, and hopefuly in two weeks I'll be able to tear into it and check everything out (ensure theres no residual sand and such) and fire this thing up!!

Nice looking kit BUT scarey looking teeth around that flywheel.

I would make sure that has a cover before starting the engine, it looks poised to eat fingers etc.
