Well, it's a start...LOL!
« on: October 19, 2006, 10:17:50 PM »
Hey all,

I have been bitten by the RE bug.  Particulary wind power since our town got some of those BIG industrial wind turbines.  Well, money is VERY tight right now so I just wanted to do something.  I was inspired by the Lenz Turbine, but I cannot afford to do something like that right now.  So, allow me to introduce the Moser Turbine...LOL!  It is just some 1/4" wood, three rulers, an old HD motor, three empty windshield washer solvent bottles.  I am just happy that it goes roundy-round!  LOL!  I can't wait until I can get some money together...time to look for a second job.

you need to resize your pictures a little smaller they need to be under 150k at the max. and under 100k would be better. i will let this one stay this time but in the future i will remove your pictures if they are to big.

A Moser turbine ... nice nice ... I heard rumors about this new prototype ... highly efficient using the latest in PVC and linear wood materials ...

Anybody who builds a turbine, disregarding its performance, size or functionality, deserves the highest respect and has shown to the world that he is able to use his mind for more than controlling a remote.

I want to apologize about the size of the pic.  I checked the FAQ and it said 640 x 480.  I did resize it...the only thing I can think of is that I posted the wrong one.  I will be more careful next time!

Vawtman,

I don't think he is in trouble...yet!  LOL!  I worship everyone on here for what they know and what they have built.  I just hope one day I can be half as good as many on here, including you vawtman and, of course, Ed.

Thanks, Powerbuoy.  Since my area got some BIG industrial wind turbines I have started getting into RE and recycling.  I have to give credit where credit is due...I have been reading this forum for a little while now and the things you people are creating is awe-inspiring.  When I am read about what everyone is doing, I believe there is hope for our planet.  Don't forget, "An Inconvenient Truth" comes out on DVD Nov 22.  I can't wait to see it!

Hmm, now if you have the rest of that scrap computer, a Moser on a stepper out of the floppy drive, or one of the motors out of the CD drive might light an LED or two on occasion.  Rich

the picture is 640 x 480 but it is still 230.82k you can post a 640 x 480 picture and have it under 100k if you reduce the picture quality to 50% or so otherwise it will still be over the 150k limit even though you resized it.

"a turbine, disregarding its performance, size or functionality"

I will argue with that.

Mine was not affected with trivial matters like wind, or lack thereof.

Mine didn't even go `roundy-round' without help.

But it did use food containers.

My first stepper (all of 6 months ago now) actually burned OUT a 2.4 volt LED!

But now it does charge up 4 of the nicad batteries now and then that go out in the yard lights when the sun don't shine on them in the shade.

My newest one is merrily spinning without a load right now in some of the best steady wind we have had in weeks. I just moved the battery bank (4 x 105's) to the new solar panel mount pole and of course--the wind came up.

It should be doing at least 40-50 watts--but it's just spinning.

The one waiting for me to complete it is still sitting out in the rain with the plate rusting slowly.....little 14" rotor plate.

I have a few pair of jeans left without a hole or two here and there from acid--y'all do check the SG just about every day don't you??--hi-hi

I added an ounce (mixed with water first) to each cell of the EDTA stuff--it bubbles nicely.

I've got them on the "jerry desulphater"/wattgas thingie just for giggles, and due to no sunlight today.

No isolator transformer---100 + volts isolated or not--that's an electrical conducting substance (sulphuric acid) that's around the tops of batteries---GFCI for ME!!

My kill-a-watt meter seems to be in shipping limbo.

My homebrew solar charger/dump/controller still needs programming....

Dang...this stuff is addictive!
