Jensen Genny

Well, It's been a long road of discovery for me. I spent a long time researching and reading this board long before I even thought of build a generator. I don't think I would have tried if not for this board and it's helpful members, so I thank all of you for your inspiration.

Here are some final thoughts and pictures of the end results.

After I completed the generator I went to install it on my tower. and to my surprise the tilt up tower I built would not allow me to raise it due to the additional weight I added to it. It was very dis-heartning to get so close and not be able to swing it up on the pole. So I had to make a new design that would pivot.

Here is a picture of the bracket I designed.

Here it is in the down position

It took a while to machine all the parts and weld it together, but I am happy with the results. It pivots quite nicely and I can put it up and down by myself.

Here is a picture of the generator installed on the tower.

I decided not to put a cover on it for now. I will bring it down after a while to see if it is holding up to the weather.

Here is a picture of the final windmill on the tower

I will post in the future on anything that might be of interest to somebody.

All I need now is some wind!

By the way it is a 5 blade, 60 inch dia. It is what I had so I will see if it will work. I will change it if it is apparent that it is not enough for the generator.

Thanks again It has been quite an learning experience!

Very nice work, tajim.  It is very inspirational for me see people embracing renewable energy.  I am researching and planning my first turbine.  It will be a VAWT using car parts.  I figure I should play to my strengths being a mechanic...LOL!  Love the tower!  Can you post some more details on the genny?

Can you describe the tail vain a little more?  It looks to be splayed on the back end.  Is that to get more "grip" on the wind?

That looks nice. Maybe it's just my screen but by the photos I can't tell the pitch direction and the rotation your blades will take. What material are they made of and did you build these also ?  Dave B.
