Dual rotor 14 magnets 11 coils.
« on: January 05, 2007, 05:24:06 AM »
Did I just see an eyebrow or 2 lift? I'm thinking maybe 10 " disc or maybe 11"?

I'll start playing with the layout and some numbers. Not sure what phase this will be but it doesn"t realy matter.

I have a bunch of littel 1"X 1/2" X 1/8" NEOs that I want to play with (thanks Ed).

I'll actully use 1"X 1/2" X 1/4" NEOs on one disc and the 1/8 th" on the other disc.

14 magnets per discs and an 11 coil stator. Its these crazy ideas that keep me awake at night.

Should be fun though. I got the parts now all I need is the time?

Hi Hiker.

Ya there all still in the works. You know, there are the things you want to do and then there are the things you have to do. Taint fair LOL.

I took a look at the protractor last night and its hard to devid 360 by 11. I'm going to have my engenier son do a template on computer then e-mail me results.

Its funny I'm here in Oregon and my son is in Colorado in all trhat snow about 100 miles from OP HQ.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Not sure how this would work out as multiphase? 14 mag 10 coil would line up opposite coils. 5 phase?

I believe it'll be 11 phase.  Jerry's gonna need a lot of bridged to Jerry-Rig it!

I've been thinking about the term "Jerry riggerd". I was thinking maybe using the term Jerry phase?

Oh well the wireing scheem will be the same no matter what you call it.

The only thing requiered for Jerry phase is that the magnet count is an even # that can be diveded by 2. The coil count does matter. The only requierment would be not to have 2 magnets over the same coil at once.

Thats why I was thinking of 10 or 11" even though the magnets are small.

Concerning the fullwave bridge rectifiers. A short time back my plumber freind gave me another 50 garbage disposals. Half of them were the DC PM type. These have a very nice 3/4" square 6 amp full wave bridge. Plus I have another 15 or so from previus dumpster diving.

These are the diodes in use on my 8" dual rotor that was making over 1600 watts in that last big NW wind storm. There all still working great. Its amazing what nine littel 6 amp bridges can do when perelelled (60 amps). 11 should do even better (110 amps).

I have no idea what phase it will be but that has no importance on the prefomance of this alt.

Time will tell and the test rersults are in.

Jerry-

Just how big are the heat sinks used with little 6 Amp bridges?

Hi Coldspot.

The stator support is a 10" diameter disc made of 1/4" aluminum. The small 6 amp bridges are placed around the outer perimeter. This makes for a very nice stator support and a nice big heat sink.

Check my diaries on my 8" dual rotor machine. I think they handeled the 60 amps because of the large heatsink directly in the wind.
