Front View of Cabin
« on: January 07, 2007, 04:43:29 PM »
We built this Cabin (our house) in the spring of 2006, picture taken in Jan of 07.  It's quite a struggle with all the mud, not to mention the cabin is one half mile off the main road, and on the other side of the creek.

What fun it would be to have a little cabin out in the middle of know where powered by R/E. I would just be scared of robbers and vandalism. Is this a Deer lodge? Looks like your in for some good times. Where about is it. Looks like your in my neck of the woods.

A trick to dealing with all the mud : If you have a fireplace, when removing the ashes, keep them.  When you get a good helping of them, spread them out on the driveway.  When they mix with the dirt and the water and then dry out, it's almost as good as cement.

I'm slowly doing this with my driveway.  Can't do much right now as there's 2 inches of ice on it, but come spring time I will be.

I like your property.  Kind of like mine!!  :)

Good to see the solar panels, and is that a wind generator I see on its mast right behind the solar panels?

Looks nice

Kind of flat land around it

maybe its just me but when I think cabin,

I think about the one I get to play at, :)

(Very close to continental divide about 7100' elev)

{Probebly about 8-10' of snow there right now, :( }

This is the one my girlfriend built about 4 to 5 years ago, (took a couple of years, just finished trim inside last summer with her)

It has four 50 watt PV's. (kind of how I ended up here, lol)

Yes it's good to be lucky !!!

:)

Sure you can do something now.

Ashes are fantastic at melting ice. At least pits it so you can drive / walk on it a bit easier. In my experience it tends to melt through the ice and stay on the driveway. I think it is both a chemical reaction [lye] and the dark particles absorbing sunlight. It does tend to produce a tougher surface than rock alone.

Cheers.
