wind
« on: January 10, 2007, 06:09:36 PM »

Had a large wind last nite, (reported 90 kph)  and tower,

which was always the weak link, folded.

The upside is that it looks like the blades are OK.  Know

more when I untangle the mess.  Must have folded slow enough

for the blades to slow down before they hit.

Guess I had better get going on the new tower.

Tried to short it out, to see if I could slow things down,

but no luck.  Saw about 70 amps though, although my ammeter

is a little suspect.  Spark was BIG though.

I was running out of projects anyway.

It would be interesting if locations were included so we could get a better picture of what was happening and where.

Libra--sorry, could have included.  Location is Lamont, Alberta,

Canada.  Don't have an anemometer (spelling), but winds were definetly

strongest in almost 2 years of flying genny.  Going by output.

Will try to remember to post location of condition comments

in future.
