Joseph, some time ago in a fieldline poll you posted the following project:

It looks like an interesting thing to play with. I wanted to know your fan's rated power.


According to what I've read on the web here's how they are typically rated:



  1. " = 55 watts
  2. " = 75 watts
  3. " = 90 watts
  4. " = 100 watts

Warrior, the fan that I was using had 32" blades and it was rated at around 100watts. The kind you find in warehouses. The blades have a bend 8" from the tip. This last month the turbine ran almost everyday.


I will add a fourth wire to the second windings, this will separate the phases. I also have two sets of blades for the unit. The one's in the picture are slower but they start in very low winds.
